We were lucky enough to welcome Peter Warren to the nursery recently to undertake some work on a number of our own trees.
Peter studied under Kunio Kobayashi at his garden, Shunkaen, in Tokyo. Initially he was a student at his weekly class before asking him if he could become his full time apprentice, a position he held for over four years.
Whilst he was in Japan, Peter worked on some of the most famous trees in Bonsai, he became their caretaker and responsible for trees that were not only several hundred years old, but incredibly valuable as well. He had to perform all types of work on these trees, from repotting to wiring and restyling. Some of the trees that Peter worked on were selected for Kokufuten, the national annual exhibition held in Tokyo.
We are hoping that Peter will become a regular visitor to our nursery.
